Are you a parent and/or carer to a person over 14 years of age with a Learning Disability?
Has the person had a Learning Disability Annual Health Check at their GP surgery within the last two years?
Could you give a small amount of time to inform other local parents and/or carers around the importance of Learning Disability Annual Health Checks? If the above applies to you we would love to hear from you!
Your local NHS is working to produce a short video for local parents and/or carers around Learning Disability Annual Health Checks. The video will raise awareness of Learning Disability Annual Health Checks and help ensure as many eligible people as possible receive them. It is expected that the video will be publicly available on the Birmingham and Solihull Local Offer pages, NHS websites and potentially on GP practice websites.
A Learning Disability Annual Health Check can help your child or the person you support to stay well and can help to find any developing health problems early so that action can be taken if needed. We know that as parents and/or carers your support is vital in ensuring your child or the person you support knows about and attends their Learning Disability Annual Health Check.
Request to Parents and/or Carers
We are looking for parents and/or carers who are happy to be filmed for the video. Filming will take place in a relaxed environment and will consist of an Disability Annual Health Checks. You will be asked about your experience of Learning Disability Annual Health Checks and what you would recommend to other parents and/or carers e.g. how you found out about them, how you arrange and prepare for them and what makes it a better experience. If you would like to be part of this video or would like more information please contact Michelle Summerill, Project Officer for Learning Disabilities and Autism, via michelle.summerill@nhs.net or 0798 5882 742.
